Great for a 4th grader.
I liked this book because it is about owls, and i like owls.
A friend of mine, named [Ashley] ,recommended this book to me. After i read this book i thought hey, [Ashley] was right. This book is good.
I would recommend this book to Fourth Graders and up. Maybe Third Graders.
Also in Mrs.[Honey]'s class we are learning about owls. Don't forget, i write other reviews, so check them out!
My 10-year-old loves this series! There is so much more to the books than the movie. Just beware. It's hard to stop at book one. You will surely want to order more of these great books.
Clever and original book that will make readers of all ages listen for the call of an owl at night and wonder about the secret lives of owls. Guaranteed to interest children in nature. Easy reading for young children and a quick page turner that will leave an impression on older readers.
This is book 2 of a 15 book series which I bought for my 9 year old grandson.
He is just beginning to really enjoy reading and he loved the Guardians of Ga'hoole movie. These books follow that movie and he was beyond excited to get them.

It is wonderful to see a young person catch fire for reading; and having a great series of books that pulls them from one to the next to the next to the next, is the perfect way for young people to hone their skills and whet their appetite for a lifetime of wonderful reading.
Overall, this is a good fiction series following a fairly standard epic plot with owls as the main characters. However, there are a couple things that lead to concern when recommending for younger children

1. The owl factions have an awkward moral system. The bad side has effectively nazi owls (brainwashing children to fight a great war and take over the world) while the other side is a military society (training children to be warriors) devoted to maintaining absolute power over the world through military victory.
2. The conflict leaves no room for compromise.
3. There is a definite anti-science bent to the theme of the book.
I loved the movie... But then I read this. O. M. Goodness! I love the story and the vivid descriptions from the author! Hard to put down.
